Rui Rosa

PhD, University of Lisbon (Portugal)
Rui Rosa is the co-PI of project OCEANPLAN. He is a Principal Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Sciences (MARE-FCUL). Rui graduated in Marine Biology in 1999 and completed a PhD degree in Biology in 2005 by the University of Lisbon. He carried his post-doctoral activities on Climate Change research at the University of Rhode Island (United States) funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, and the US National Science Foundation. In 2008, he began establishing his own research team in Portugal (RRosa Lab) at the Guia Marine Laboratory-FCUL facilities. His research focuses on understanding the impact of climate change in the marine biota, from cells to ecosystems, taking a multidisciplinary and holistic approach. The multidisciplinary expertise of his large group includes Embryology, Transcriptomics, Physiology, Ecology, Evolution, Toxicology, Modelling and Education. In addition to the coordination of more that 20 R&D projects in the last decade (as PI/Co-PI), Rui is lead author/co-author of almost 200 scientific articles in international journals, Associate Editor in international journals (e.g. Frontiers in Marine Science, Frontiers in Physiology), and evaluator in international research programs such as US National Science Foundation, NERC (UK), ANR (FR), National Geographic, and US MIT Sea-Grants.
